The artist’s great respect towards the Bauhaus principle of “form follows function”
is evident in this unique multipurpose centerpiece. A set of six napkin rings
fashioned in a cylindrical, post-modernistic style is both functional and enhances
the beauty of the table.
The individual napkin ring has two functions. After one removes the napkin, the
ring separates into two halves, each of which is a salt and pepper shaker. The
pieces stay together properly by magnetic force. The half-moon base unscrews
for easy refilling.
The napkin ring stand is shaped like a book, hinting at its ability for another use.
Wooden pegs on either side hold the rings to avoid scratches. When the rings are
in use, the stand functions as a holder for the “Birkat Hamazon” (the booklets
used in giving thanks after meals).
Two handles are decorated with the Hebrew words “V’achalta v’isavata
ubierachta” (“You shall eat, be satisfied and offer thanks”).
Aditional rings can be ordered separately.
Each work is signed and numbered by the artist and is available in a limited
edition.
