In the book of Genesis it is written, “And Yitzhak brought Rivka into his mother
Sara’s tent, and took Rivka, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and
Yitzhak was comforted after his mother’s death” (Gen.24:67). Rashi explains
that Rivka acquired Sara’s good qualities; while Sara was alive the candles
in her tent remained lighted from the eve of shabbat to the end of Shabbat.
The influence of this beautiful story is seen in these unique candlesticks. Two
collapsible candlesticks create the shape of Sara’s tent. By screwing in the top
of the candlestick, pressure is applied to the bridge, connecting the two halves
and giving stability.
