which the ancient biblical text of the “Shema” serves as protection of the Jewish household. The Shema on Stone and Glass Mezuza is inspired by the textural essence of the rolled parchment. In creating the mezuzah, a stone plate was placed upon a sand-blasted glass surface, symbolic of the sands of time. Authentic Jerusalem stone was engraved with the entire text of the Shema, so that the exterior is a mirror of the sacred text enclosed within. The artist’s respect for the famous Bauhaus principle of “form follows function” is beautifully revealed in this creation. Each creation is signed by the artist.
